ReelAgree vs SwipeForMovie vs Cinelect for Movie Night
ReelAgree, SwipeForMovie, and Cinelect all help a group choose a movie, but they do not run the same decision.
ReelAgree looks for several levels of shared support in a persistent group. SwipeForMovie waits for a unanimous match in a temporary room. Cinelect lets the group nominate and rank a shortlist before a scoring algorithm selects the winner.
ReelAgree
ReelAgree supports up to eight active members. Everyone independently marks titles like, pass, or seen. Choices stay hidden while each member decides. The app then identifies candidates with at least two likes, strict-majority group picks, and unanimous matches.
Guests can join and vote, while an account is required to host a durable group and keep history across devices. The web app is free and available now. Public mobile Store releases are not available yet.
The tradeoff is persistence: ReelAgree stores group membership, decisions, and plans in its Cloudflare-hosted service. It is not a local-only or end-to-end encrypted tool, and it does not show streaming-provider availability.
SwipeForMovie
SwipeForMovie describes a private browser room for two to eight people. A host signs in, guests join with a first name and no account, and everyone swipes the same movie-or-series deck on separate phones.
Individual likes and passes are not shown to the room. SwipeForMovie reveals a match only when every current participant likes the same title. Its official page says rooms expire after 24 hours.
Compared with ReelAgree, that is a narrower and more temporary decision: unanimity is the result, and the room is designed to disappear rather than preserve a durable group history.
Cinelect
Cinelect describes a free room where a group builds a shared watchlist, nominates films, ranks them, and lets a fair scoring algorithm pick the winner.
That makes Cinelect the clearest fit of the three when members want to submit their own candidate shortlist and rank it. Its accessible official landing-page copy does not document whether rankings remain private, how many people can join, whether guests need accounts, how long rooms persist, or which mobile platforms it supports. Those are unknowns to verify in the live product, not missing features to infer.
Which workflow fits
- Choose ReelAgree when the group wants private early reactions, majority as well as unanimous results, and persistent history.
- Choose SwipeForMovie when the group wants a temporary, private room that announces only a unanimous match.
- Choose Cinelect when the group wants to nominate titles, rank a shared shortlist, and accept an algorithmic winner.
All three currently describe a free web experience. None of that proves identical privacy, storage, or account boundaries. Read each product's current first-party material and test the specific workflow your group needs.
